The Covenant School announces plans for a new campus

Between the lines: Officials said the school was nearing the end of a short-term lease and would need to move after the 2026-27 school year. The school is fundraising to bankroll the move onto the new 14-acre site.

The big picture: Students moved to a temporary campus for more than a year after the shooting, which turned its Green Hills home into a crime scene. Kindergarteners on the playground ran through the woods to find safety. Others hid in closets with teachers or stood like soldiers against their classroom walls as gunshots rang out.

What they're saying: "We are excited about the opportunity to create a fresh start for The Covenant School in a new home where God's love will continue to echo," head of school Trudy Waters said in a statement.
