After a brief break, one of Nashville's most beloved bars is staging a comeback: The Patterson House will open Tuesday in its new home atop the Bill Voorhees building on Eighth Avenue South.
Why it matters: The speakeasy-style watering hole set a new standard for craft cocktails in Nashville when it opened in 2009. Leaders at The Patterson House tell Axios this move to the top floor of a larger, refurbished space will allow them to raise the bar again.
What they're saying: "We have been fortunate to be able to grow alongside our city," Strategic Hospitality partner Josh Habiger said in a statement.
- Habiger, the James Beard nominated chef at Bastion, had a hand in opening The Patterson House.
- "In its new home, The Patterson House team now has a space where they can realize their full creative vision, expanding their program in offerings and experiences."
The big menu: One of the most notable changes is the food menu, which will be much more robust than the smattering of bar snacks available at the original location. That will make it easier to come by for a full dinner date.
- One of the more mouth-watering dishes joining the lineup is Broth Burger, a play on a French dip, that is served with a side of smoked onion jus for dipping.
- The expanded menu will also include hearth-grilled asparagus with leeks and a 16-ounce pork chop topped with smoked trout roe.
Between the lines: The larger menu takes advantage of the bar's neighbors at The Catbird Seat, which also made the move into the new space.
Zoom in: The Patterson House boasts an impressive cocktail library of 1,200 drinks, all with fresh ingredients that will make your college bar seem like it exists on another planet.
- The new location will spotlight nine drinks on a frequently changing cocktail menu that showcases a more modern, left-of-center approach.
- An extended menu will feature 150 rotating classics pulled from the bar's lengthy roster.
By the numbers: The new space will seat about 109 customers, compared with 70 at the original location.
- Several elements of the original design will be incorporated, including soft lighting from crystal chandeliers and tin ceilings.
Plus: There is also private bar space that can be booked out for events.
If you go: The Patterson House's new home is on the fifth floor of 700 Eighth Ave. S. (across the street from Arnold's).
- It's open daily 4pm-2am, with kitchen service until midnight. Most seating is first come, first served.
