Twenty-five years have passed since the Titans came painstakingly close to a Super Bowl title only to fall one lousy yard short.
Kevin Dyson went from a euphoric gridiron high to a devastating low in the span of a few weeks.
Flashback: Dyson ran in the touchdown on the Titans' Music City Miracle play against the Buffalo Bills earlier in the playoffs.
He was also the receiver who caught the ball in Super Bowl XXXIV and was tackled at the 1-yard line, sealing the victory for the Rams.
What he's saying: "The Music City Miracle, it was a play that didn't go as designed. I was the backup's backup. I wasn't supposed to be in the game," Dyson told the Tennessean. "I wasn't supposed to receive the lateral. For lack of a better term, it was my calling, I guess. It was my opportunity to make a play.
"Well, you fast forward three weeks. I'm in the game. I'm where I'm supposed to be. I'm in the pass progression. The read takes it to me, the ball comes my way and I come up short. It's the irony of football and life itself. Sometimes life goes how you want it to, and other times it doesn't when you expect it to."
