Madison Station project advances

• The developer for phase one is LDG Development, which specializes in affordable housing.
• Phase one of the project includes 242 affordable condos and apartments including 51 residences for seniors. Overall the plan calls for 1,700 housing units. The project has already received approval for $68.8 million in tax incentives.

What they're saying: "By ensuring that we share in the long-term financial success of the Madison Station project, we are not just building housing— we are creating economic opportunities that will allow ULMT to reinvest in the community for years to come," Urban League of Middle Tennessee president and CEO Clifton Harris said in a press release.

• The plan has the backing of WeGo CEO Steve Bland. He says the agency predicts the Madison area will "become an even more important transit hub in the future."
• U.S. Rep. John Rose, who represents the area, touted the project for "providing new housing, jobs, improved roadways, and additional connectivity."
