State Rep. Bo Mitchell is the rare Nashville Democratic lawmaker who regularly faces competitive Republican challenges.
Zoom in: Michell, a former Metro Council member, represents western and northern parts of Davidson County, which have more Republican voters than other Nashville districts.
State of play: Mitchell had to scrap for narrow victories early in his career, before converting District 50 into a safe Democratic seat. His last two elections he didn't have an opponent in the general election.
However, Michell is facing a legitimate challenger yet again this year from Republican Metro Councilmember Jennifer Frensley Webb.
Flashback: Above is a chart showing Mitchell's vote margins since he was elected to the legislature in 2012.
His closest election was his first, as Mitchell defeated Republican Charles Williamson by just 156 votes (13,208 to 13,052) in 2012.
