AmericanaFest 2024 begins in Nashville

AmericanaFest will bring hundreds of artists to venues across Nashville this week.

Why it matters: As debates rage about rigid barriers in country music, AmericanaFest is an undeniable big-tent event that elevates American roots artists of all different sounds and backgrounds.

State of play: The festival starts Tuesday and runs through Saturday.

The flagship event, the Americana Honors & Awards, takes place Wednesday at the Ryman Auditorium.

Zoom in: AmericanaFest celebrates the diversity of the Americana family through concerts and conference-style discussion panels.

"Throughout its history, Americana has never been defined by a singular sound," one event listing reads.
"Artists come from a wide variety of backgrounds and musical traditions. From bluegrass to soul to indie rock and even jazz, punk, and gospel, inspiration runs deep."
