Tennessee State Fair open through Saturday

State of play: Hundreds of thousands of people have already visited the fair in Lebanon this year.

• Organizers say it takes more than one day to experience the full array of activities.

🐮 Animals: The fair advertises more than 150 livestock shows. There's a dog show tonight.

• Barns around the site give visitors a chance to see many farm animals up close.

🛻 Monster trucks: Monster Truck Wars shows will take place Friday and Saturday at 6:30pm. (If watching isn't enough for you, you can book a ride in a monster truck for $10.)

🎢 Amusement park rides: There are classic options for kids and adults. They range from the serene (a romantic carousel) to intense (a steep drop in a roller coaster).

🎶 Music: There are eight stages across the fairgrounds. Country, gospel and line dancing are plentiful.

🍗 Food: In Tennessee, hot chicken counts as fair food. Prince's is one of dozens of vendors on site.
