The Nashville SC's Walker Zimmerman was among the 25 players selected Wednesday for the U.S. men's soccer Olympics training camp.

Why it matters: Zimmerman, who is 31, was the only overage player selected for the squad. Players on Olympics rosters must be under 23, but each team is allowed three older players on its 18-person roster.

By the numbers: Zimmerman is a veteran of international play with 42 games, including the 2022 World Cup, where he was excellent at times.

What's next: The U.S. plays Japan in a pre-Olympics friendly match in Kansas City, Kansas, on June 11.

  • The team opens Olympics play against host France on July 24.
