Vanderbilt baseball coach Tim Corbin reached a rare milestone this week: 1,000 career wins.

State of play: Corbin is one of only 10 active Division I coaches to hit four digits. Most of those wins have been with Vanderbilt.

Flashback: Corbin was named Vanderbilt's head coach on June 25, 2002. His first win with the Commodores (and his 107th career win) was against The Citadel on Feb. 15, 2003.

  • Vanderbilt's baseball program has thrived under Corbin's leadership, logging 17 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
  • The team has been to the College World Series five times and won it all twice.

What he's saying: "I can't really manage the words for it," Corbin said after the win on Tuesday, per the Vanderbilt Hustler. "Being in the same spot for 22 years is important; the consistency of just being here. We've had fun with it and enjoyed it."

What's next: The wait for win 1,001 has begun. Vanderbilt's next game is Friday against Illinois State.
