Nashville attorney Lynne Ingram is challenging Judge Kelvin Jones for his Eighth Circuit Court seat.

  • Ingram held her first fundraiser last week, co-hosted by legal heavyweights Luvell Glanton, Abby Rubenfeld, Worrick Robinson, Bill Ramsey and Kevin Sharp.
  • A former federal prosecutor, Ingram also worked as a family law attorney at the Legal Aid Society.

What she's saying: Ingram tells Axios she's running for the bench because she wants "to serve and give back to my community in a role where I can effect change from inside the courtroom."

Why it matters: Jones, who has been on the bench since 2014, is embattled in the fallout of a messy divorce in which he admitted he read "emails that contained correspondence between (his wife) and her attorneys.” Jones' wife said the emails were private, but Jones denied that he accessed the emails without her permission.

  • Jones did not respond to requests for comment about Ingram's candidacy.
