Brew of the week: Black from Centerpoint Brewing Co.

Driving the brews: We've shouted out this Indy-based brewery on more than one occasion for its bright and refreshing Blood Orange IPA.

• But my personal Centerpoint go-to is this flavor-packed American Porter that pairs perfectly with a day off and a lo-fi playlist.

My take: This beer is always smoother than I remember, and the silky texture allows hints of chocolate to come through uninterrupted with every sip.

• Lower carbonation makes for a relaxing experience that can be equally enjoyed at any temperature.
• It's comforting, interesting and familiar on first taste. If you could can and sell the feeling of a trusted mentor slowly telling you an important story, this would be it.

Pro tip: If you pick up a six-pack to enjoy at home, take the time to pour it in a glass.

• Along with enhancing the flavors, doing so will let you appreciate the ruby highlights that pierce through the beer's dark body when the light hits it just right.
