Meet the Maker: Public Art for All grantees

Driving the news: Indy Arts Council recently announced the second wave of grantees receiving funding under Public Art for All.

• The program awards creators with the capacity and desire to address public art equity issues. Grants range from $5,000 to $45,000.

Zoom in: Here are the three winning projects.

Siena Baldi and 91 Place

• In her second collaboration with the nonprofit that works to fight youth homelessness, Baldi will create a mural in the 900 block of Mass Ave that embodies 91 Place's core values.
• The project will involve fabrication of upcycled book stands and repurposing of the material from the former Mass Ave Cultural District sign.

Boxx the Artist and Friends of Martin Luther King Jr. Park

• A mural at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park and the Peace Memorial Pool Building will update the faded mural of King and Sen. Robert Kennedy.

• The project will also feature a new scene depicting the Indianapolis Public School 27 Masters of Disaster Chess Team.

Allison Baker, Aspire House and IU Herron School

• A collaborative initiative to create a public arts corridor in the Northwest Landing neighborhood via the installation of public sculptures.
• The permanent works will be maintained by the Herron School of Art and developed in collaboration with residents.
