Houston chefs and restaurants named 2025 James Beard finalists

Four Houston-area restaurants and chefs on Wednesday were named finalists for this year's James Beard Awards.

Why it matters: Being nominated is one of the dining industry's highest honors.

Here are the finalists:

Best New Restaurant: Ema
Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages Program: March
Best Texas Chef: Thomas Bille of Belly of the Beast in Spring and Emmanuel Chavez of Tatemó

Flashback: Houston had 11 semifinalists last year, but came away with no wins.

The intrigue: March, Belly of the Beast, Ema and Tatemó are all in last year's Michelin guide.

What's next: The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Chicago on June 16.
