Attendance at this year's Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is slightly behind last year's numbers, but with spring break underway, officials anticipate a surge with several big-name artists scheduled to perform.

By the numbers: As of Sunday, total attendance was about 162,500, down about 26,000 from this time last year.

What they're saying: "Historically, spring break has been a pivotal period for us, drawing in our largest crowds," rodeo president Chris Boleman said in a statement.

  • "As we move forward, the anticipation is high for a successful and vibrant second half of the 2024 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in the coming days."

The intrigue: Sunday evening's Los Tigres Del Norte concert on Go Tejano Day broke the rodeo's all-time paid concert attendance record with a total of 75,595 in the audience.

  • The previous record of 75,586 in 2019 was also on Go Tejano Day.

What's next: Bun B's highly anticipated, sold-out All American Takeover with numerous guest stars, including Drake, is tonight.

  • Nickelback and the Jonas Brothers are also performing this week.
