While 2026 air travelis off to a rough start due to this weekend's winter storm, based on recent trends, it shouldn't take too long to rebound.
By the numbers: The nearly 9.4 million passengers served at Columbus airports last year set another annual record, the Columbus Regional Airport Authority recently announced.
Passenger counts have not only recovered from a pandemic slump, but have now exceeded pre-pandemic levels two years in a row.
Between the lines: Columbus continues to add more flights, boosting passenger numbers.
What they're saying: "We've taken a very proactive approach by showing airlines exactly where the demand exists, allowing them to strategically fill those gaps," authority spokesperson Breann González Almos tells Axios.
The increased demand also reflects our growing community and strong business environment, she says.
What's next: The new John Glenn International Airport terminal project remains on track for a 2029 opening, which will even further expand capacity.
