What should replace Milestone 229 if it closes?

Downtown's only riverfront restaurant, Milestone 229, is closing after 14 years — maybe.

Between the lines: "We were unable to reach new lease terms with the city of Columbus that were favorable to both parties and our last day of operations will be Dec. 31," the restaurant posted on Facebook last week, per local news reports.

Its account has since been deactivated.

The other side: "We remain open to negotiations and hope to come to an amicable resolution," a city spokesperson told us Friday.

Follow the money: The property is valued at $5.7 million, per the county auditor.
