A Cambridge man is channeling his love of home cooking into a newsletter for neighbors and fellow foodies.

The intrigue: The Cambridge Recipe Club is amassing thousands of subscribers interested in low-cost, accessible ideas for meals.

Catch up quick: Andrew Little launched the club in September 2025, sharing his take on stir-fries, summer pasta dishes and other seasonal dishes with locally grown herbs or vegetables.

He once featured a recipe for braised beef brisket shared by Robert Harris, the chef-owner of Season to Taste.

The latest: Little compiled the summer recipes in a cookbook. 

What they're saying: Little sees the recipe club as a source of connection among neighbors.

"Sometimes you don't know the person who lives below you or next to you, and so I think it's a really cool way to kind of facilitate that connection," he says.

What's next: Look out for an upcoming recipe for butternut squash macaroni and cheese.

And I'm from Jersey, which has its own breed of j🤬🤬🤬offs.

Here are my 10 rules of Boston etiquette:

If you're taking public transit, stay out of the way. 

When the doors open, step aside and let the passengers get off first. Otherwise, you not only piss them off, but hold up traffic and piss off the people behind you, too. 

This also applies to personal space. No "manspreading," no backpacks on, lest you turn around one day and hit an elder in the face with your bag. 

Don't yap on the phone while riding public transit, or at least don't be loud about it.

Don't take up the whole sidewalk with your friends when you're walking down the street, especially on narrow sidewalks in the Back Bay or the North End. 

If you're in line to order food, decide what you want before it's time to place your order.

If you can't afford to tip at a restaurant, stay home. 

Tipping culture may be out of control (I say this as someone who's tipped a cashier for a bottle of water out of habit), but don't take it out on a waiter or bartender.

Clean up after yourself in public bathrooms.

This shouldn't have to be said, but too many people in Boston tinkle on the seat and walk away. 

We don't want any Typhoid Mary, COVID Kelly or Norovirus Nick getting us sick. Use soap and water for at least 30 seconds.

If you're talking about Boston, look at ALL 23 neighborhoods. 

If you haven't been to Le Foyer in Mattapan or Habitat for Humanity's ReStore in West Roxbury or El Peñol in East Boston, you haven't really seen Boston.

Also, Cambridge and Somerville are NOT Boston. Don't mix those up. 

If you're going to jaywalk, do it right. 

There's technically a jaywalking law on the books, but I've never seen it enforced. 

You're more likely to get cursed out or even hit by a car (I have seen that) if you make cars stop in the middle of the street. Chances are, that same driver would stop on the highway and help you change a tire.

Driving through the Boston area takes a degree of radical acceptance.  

You're bound to get cut off, cursed out and delayed at a green light by someone running a red light. 

Try your hardest not to be that guy. It's just the 
M🤬sshole way.

Say hello to Boston's 5-week-old kori bustard chick. 

The intrigue: It's the first kori bustard chick to hatch at Franklin Park Zoo in 23 years.

Zoom in: The chick hatched on Aug. 1, as the result of recommended breeding.

The kori bustard is listed as "near threatened" — or likely to become endangered in the future — due to slow reproduction rates, hunting and development destroying their habitats, per the National Zoo.

The chick is being raised by an animal care team to make sure it's getting enough food and exercise. 

What they're saying: "In the wild, the chicks follow their parents all
over grasslands and plains, and through the exercise schedule we have established, we are emulating that here," said Bill Robles, a Zoo New England curator. 

What's next: When the chick is old enough, it will move to another zoo.

A jury failed to reach a verdict in the trial of Lindsay Clancy on Friday in Plymouth County Superior Court, prompting the judge to declare a mistrial.

The big picture: The case has sparked fierce debate nationwide over whether Clancy was in control or in psychosis fueled by postpartum depression when she killed her three children and attempted suicide in 2023.

Catch up quick: Jurors had to determine whether Clancy was criminally responsible for killing her three children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months — on Jan. 24, 2023, in the basement of their Duxbury home. 

Prosecutors say she planned the killings and faked her suicide attempt, per CBS Boston.

Clancy's defense team says she was overmedicated and experiencing postpartum psychosis.

After jurors twice said they were deadlocked, Judge William Sullivan asked them to deliberate "with candor" and "respect to the opinions of each other," a special set of instructions known as a "dynamite" charge.

The latest: Sullivan declared a mistrial Friday afternoon, despite the defense's last-minute request to remove a juror who has kept the jury deadlocked.

The defense filed an emergency motion to stay the verdict, just as Sullivan was about to declare a mistrial Friday morning.

The Supreme Judicial Court denied the request Friday afternoon.

Friction point: The ruling comes after a tense exchange between Sullivan and defense attorney Kevin Reddington.

Reddington argued that Sullivan had not been forceful enough when repeating the special instructions to jurors on Thursday. 

What they're saying: "I understood how hard everybody worked on this case," Sullivan told the jury. 

"I understood you all gave everything you could and probably more than you thought you could."

The big picture: The Clancy trial has gained national attention as spectators debate the circumstances leading up to the grizzly deaths.

The case has also sparked discussions about postpartum depression and what parents call insufficient responses to and treatments for the condition in the U.S. health care system.

What's next: Reddington asked the judge to reconsider a not-guilty finding for insufficient evidence for a conviction.   

Clancy's due back in court Sept. 29 for a hearing on that request.

If Sullivan denies it, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz must decide whether to try Clancy again.

Asked by reporters about the possibility of a second trial, Reddington said, "Bring it."

Madrugada, a beloved Roxbury-born clothing brand, is returning with a permanent brick-and-mortar.

Why it matters: What began as a homegrown side hustle sold out of a backyard shed may soon become the South End's newest upscale boutique.

Catch up quick: Madrugada recently wrapped up a pop-up in Downtown Crossing — a test run for owner Nan James, a Roxbury native who works in the TV industry.

The latest: James plans to sign a lease for a storefront on Columbus Avenue in the South End, but declined to say where because of pending negotiations.

What they're saying: James, a Madison Park Technical Vocational High School alumna, says she owes her success in TV and apparel to her alma mater.

"We were learning how to design clothes. We were learning how to screen-print stuff. I was learning how to shoot commercials," she tells Axios.

"Literally, everything I learned, I learned from Madison Park."

Flashback: James started out selling embroidered caps in 2016 before expanding to clothes and incorporating the business in 2019.

She named the brand Madrugada, which means "dawn" in Spanish, because she felt it described her life in Los Angeles at the time.

"I was in a space where jobs weren't where I needed them to be," says James, who is now a bicoastal resident. "I felt like something positive was coming."

Flash forward two years, and James set up a shed in the backyard of her childhood home in Roxbury.

The shed quickly became a destination for local shoppers, but it came down in early 2025 after James' family sold the house.

Since then, Madrugada has lived on in pop-ups.

Yes, and: The brand has also gotten attention from celebrities, from Jaylen Brown to rapper YG and DJ Mustard (he wore a Vanson x Madrugada motorcycle jacket while on tour with Kendrick Lamar).

Zoom in: The downtown pop-up gave Madrugada a prime location with easy MBTA access and new customers from Spain and Japan.

She's still getting messages from fans saying they were looking for Madrugada downtown, even though the nine-day pop-up ended weeks ago.

What's next: James plans to open the store this fall.

Madrugada has another collaboration in the works with the Vanson motorcycle apparel brand.
