Winteractive is back in Boston with outdoor art and chubby pink blob men

For the second year in a row, Boston's downtown has transformed into an outdoor winter art exhibition with installations scattered around the heart of the city.
Why it matters: The free Winteractive festival is a way to increase interest in the urban outdoors in the colder months, boost foot traffic downtown and give locals and tourists alike something new to look at.
Zoom in: There are multiple large-scale installations across downtown from three featured artists or artist teams, including:
- Philippe Katerine's "Mr. Pink" — a series of six inflatable sculptures suspended over streets, sitting on store marquees, squeezed between buildings and perched in trees all across downtown.
- NEON Studio & Frankie Boyle's "Living Lantern" — a kinetic light installation featuring movement-responsive elements on Federal Street.
- Rob Jensen & Warren Trezevant's "Sonic Runway" — an interactive light-art installation with visitor-activated pathways at City Hall Plaza.
- Brandon Vickerd's "Alouette" — what looks like a satellite crashed into a car on Washington Street in Downtown Crossing.
