Mass. Tax breaks for Leo, Marky Marky productions and more

Massachusetts granted $46 million in tax credits to the 2021 Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence film "Don't Look Up," the most the state has ever dished out for a Hollywood production, reports the Boston Globe.

Why it matters: Lawmakers made the tax credit for films and television permanent in 2021 after a debate over whether the breaks boost the local film industry or just pad Hollywood's bottom line.

"Ghostbusters" (2016) — $26.7 million
"Patriots Day" with Mark Wahlberg (2016) — $15.7 million
"Julia" (2022) — $12.9 million
"Kevin Can F**k Himself" (2021) — $10.3 million
"Godmothered" (2020) — $8.2 million
