We tried Coca-Cola's infamous Beverly soda in Atlanta

• The product was discontinued in 2009 but can still be found at the beverage giant's tasting attractions in Las Vegas, Walt Disney World and the downtown Atlanta museum.

Beverly's exclusivity and blech taste have made the act of sampling the soda a viral social media stunt and, for fans of such things, a pilgrimage.

• Even the museum tour guides remind people that Beverly is in the building (in the tasting room on the top floor, just before the gift shop).

Zoom in: The clear soda (which was originally dark when it launched) tastes like a mix between grapefruit and licorice.

• It's unclear why anyone would want to drink an entire glass, much less the little sip I poured from the soda fountain.

Fun fact: This was my first time visiting the Centennial Olympic Park location of the Coca-Cola museum and I was not prepared for a) how packed it would be and b) how sticky the floors in the tasting room are.

The verdict: My nieces kept calling it "herbaceous," which, sure. I'll simply go with "I lived to tell the tale."
