CBS Atlanta's Brian Unger on farm chores, döner and horse rides in the shade

Breakfast: Unger and Phillips, an equestrian and horse breeder, head to Hen Mother in downtown Alpharetta for what Unger calls an "exquisite, awesome country breakfast."

• The pancakes and omelets are decadent enough, Unger jokes, that regular visits could land you "on a GLP-1 in, like, a couple weeks."

Morning: Before the Georgia heat takes over, the couple take their German shorthaired pointers to Lake Allatoona to practice swimming and retrieving or trailer their horses to Waleska for a shady ride through Cherokee County.

Lunch: It's back to Ball Ground to enjoy Frankfurt Döner and Meats' humbly named Life-Changing Sandwich. "Lo and behold, it is life-changing," Unger said.

• Among the entirely unverified side effects: People have moved closer to the restaurant, and two women gave birth after eating there. "There is no data to support any of this," he said, "but the sandwich is that good."

Afternoon: Unger and Phillips escape what he calls their "beautiful prison" of farm life for the Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail. They'll set up at Ladybird Grove and Mess Hall with a dog or friends, or both, for margaritas or beers (or both).

Dinner: Tacos at Pure or sushi at Tenku in downtown Woodstock. Or maybe Little Sparrow or another Ford Fry restaurant.

• "We're kind of like Ford Fry groupies," said Unger, who joined CBS Atlanta in 2025.

10pm: Back home, there's another hour of making sure the animals are fed, tended to, and tucked way in bed.

• No need to turn on Netflix. "We just pass out."
