A decommissioned MARTA railcar dumped in the name of science off the coast of Savannah is now on the lookout for sharks.
Zoom in: This summer, Georgia Aquarium researchers installed an acoustic receiver on the railcar that will listen for tagged sharks.
Catch up quick: MARTA donated retired railcars to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources in 2023 to help create an artificial reef habitat.
Under the sea: One of the railcars has been reduced to rubble, the aquarium said in an announcement.
