Roller coaster jargon, decoded for first-time riders

So you followed our advice to try ArieForce One on a weekday morning and you're hearing a bunch of jargon while waiting for your turn.

🎢 Thoosie: Slang for a roller coaster enthusiast.

🏆 Cred: Short for "coaster credits." One unique roller coaster counts as a credit.

🎵 Dispatch music: The music you hear as the roller coaster rolls out of the station.

🏁 Lap: One ride on the same coaster.

⏲️ ERT: Extra or exclusive ride time. Time set aside for groups — often thoosies — to ride with little or no wait.

🙋 GP: General public. The vast majority of park patrons who keep the amusement parks with world-class roller coasters in business.

😵‍💫 Graying out: Tunnel vision, basically. Too much gravitational force can cause you to temporarily lose vision and color.

👷 RMC: Rocky Mountain Construction, the manufacturer of ArieForce One and an innovator in roller coaster design.

"They're like the Ferrari of roller coasters," Stephen Gurr, a Hall County defense investigator who logged his 300th ArieForce One ride this week, told Axios.

👕 T-shirts: Enthusiasts wear shirts advertising coasters — mostly from other amusement parks — as a way to identify one another.
