Braves use Opening Day to mark 60 years in Atlanta

Driving the news: Before the first pitch at 7:15pm, an on-field ceremony will celebrate Opening Day and the 60th anniversary.

• Fans will be treated to a video highlighting some of the most memorable moments over the last six decades.
• Players will also be recognized: Joe Torre (1960s), Ralph Garr (1970s), Dale Murphy (1980s), Sid Bream (1990s), Chipper Jones (2000s), and Brian McCann (2010s).
• There's an exhibit in Monument Garden where you can check out six displays documenting the past 60 years.
• At 4pm, fans can line the streets in The Battery and cheer on Braves players and coaches.

What about the food? A few concession changes have been made, including the addition of Tacos Mejor at the Cutwater stand in Section 152.

• Other changes include Fred's Meat & Bread moving into restaurant space inside the Chop House gate and Bell Street Burritos and Vice Steak Bar opening in the Outfield Market.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can check out some of the Braves' signature menu options:

• A-Town Melt, a cheesy, spicy chicken melt loaded with creamy pepper jack fondue and toasted on muffaletta bread;
• Blooperito, a deep-fried burrito with chipotle-spiced beef, cotija cheese, fresh pico de gallo and house-made sauce; and
• Bat Flip, a 7-inch toasted brioche topped with 2 pounds of beef patties, braised short rib, crispy pork belly, cheese, lettuce, crunchy onions, a fried egg and tomatoes.

Catch up quick: The team has released its roster for Friday's game, which includes Braves stars Ozzie Albies, Chris Sale, Ronald Acuña Jr. and Austin Riley.

• Starting pitcher Spencer Strider is on the injury list with a strained left oblique, and the team says he's expected to return in April.
• Catcher Sean Murphy is sidelined with a hip injury, with a return projected in May.

What we're watching: The Braves are aiming to make the post-season after failing to make the playoffs last year, according to the AJC.

• It could be an uphill battle. The New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies are the favorites to win the National League East, the AJC's Gabriel Burns reports.
