"The Walking Dead" props and costumes up for auction

Fans of the show that gave us Rick, Darryl, Carol and CARRRRRL have an opportunity to bid on 1,000 props, costumes and other "The Walking Dead" esoterica.

Why it matters: The AMC Networks adaptation of Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore's graphic novel spawned a universe of content and helped establish Georgia as a place where Hollywood could plant roots and shoot a TV series.

Zoom in: Any notable prop or costume you can think of is up for grabs in the auction organized by AMC and Heritage Auctions.

Items include Rick's sheriff deputy costume, Glenn's guitar, masks worn by "background walker" zombies and the Woodbury Town Hall sign from the show's third and fourth seasons.

Yes, and: Lots of prop non-firing guns and weapons, including versions of Rick's .357, Daryl's crossbow, Michonne's katana, Negan's barbed-wire baseball bat and more. Bids on some of those items start at $10,000.

What's next: The auction closes on Nov. 1.
