Atlanta Falcons roster ranks among NFL's oldest

The stuck-in-a-rut Atlanta Falcons, which several years ago had one of the NFL's younger teams, today has one of the oldest rosters in the league.
Why it matters: Age isn't nothing but a number, sure, but it comes with pros (experience) and cons (more injuries).
- Take, for example, the Falcons.
Zoom in: 11 Falcons players are aged 30 and older, well above the league's average.
- The team's average age is 26.75, near the top of the NFL.
The team also has some of the fewest rookie and first-year players, according to league data.
Zoom out: The average age of the last four Super Bowl-winning teams was approximately 27, according to the NFL.
- Only five players on the 2024-2025 Philadelphia Eagles roster were 30 or older.
Flashback: The oldest champion in the last five years was the 2020-2021 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led by a 43-year old Tom Brady.
- That team's average age was 28 and the roster had 14 players north of 30.
What's next: The Falcons play the Commanders, which have the most players over the age of 30, on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
