Netherworld begins 29th season with new monster attractions

What they're saying: Netherworld co-founder Ben Armstrong said in a press release that opening weekend is one of his favorite times of the year.

• "After months of building, planning, and creating, we finally get to watch our guests experience these worlds for the very first time," he said. "There's nothing quite like seeing people's reactions when the monsters come alive and the sets surround them – it makes all the hard work worth it."

Zoom in: The Monsters Attack! set-up features a town fighting to stop an attack led by "vampiric hordes, undying behemoths and a vast army of reanimated corpses," Netherworld's description states.

• Netherworld's Oblivion haunt centers around a "demented surgeon" who escapes his holding cell and works to find "the source of emotion in the human body and [use] it to control all who live."

The fun doesn't stop there. Netherworld will set up its Halloween Midway festival that includes large jack-o'-lanterns, games, photo ops and meet-and-greets with monsters.

• And off course, they'll be food like mini donuts, nachos, barbecue sandwiches popcorn and cotton candy.

Zoom out: If you're looking for something a bit different, you can also check out Escape the Netherworld — its five escape rooms — and House of Creeps Monster Museum, which has memorabilia, artifacts and rare movie props on display.
