On the same day André 3000 surprised the Met Gala media with a bespoke piano strapped to his back, the rap legend and Atlanta all-star dropped a new EP.
Most of the songs on "7 Piano Sketches" — recorded 10 years before the flute-focused "New Blue Sun" — were recorded on an iPhone and in a rented Texas house containing "only a piano, our beds and tv screens."
Fun fact: The original title, he said on Instagram: "The Best Worst Rap Album in History."
Worst because it has no lyrics. Best because "it's like a palette cleanser for me," he said.
One more: The 30-pound piano is made of foam, lauan plywood and 3D-printed elements, according to Vogue. It is based on a Steinway Model S baby grand.
