Your lifelong dream of owning a private compound in the North Georgia mountains where like-minded, naked people can play volleyball is within your reach.
Driving the news: Serendipity Park, a family-friendly nudist resort in Cleveland, Ga., not far from Helen, is on the market for a cool $1.8 million.
Zoom in: The 42-acre gated resort has everything you need for an unclothed vacation: a clubhouse for socializing and parties, kitchen, sauna and pool, six cottages, RV hookups, and access to a creek along the property's edge.
- When you want to leave the grounds of the American Association of Nude Recreation-member park, Helen is just a short drive away.
The big picture: The property is "ideal for buyers passionate about naturism with a desire to own a prosperous business in the niche hospitality sector," according to the listing.
Caveat: Deed restrictions will require the buyers to continue to operate the property as a nudist resort for the next 10 years, Hall said.
Zoom out: The owners are retiring and want to travel, Brittany Hall of Southern Landmark Realty, who's handling the listing, told Axios.
The intrigue: Your next door neighbor is Mountain Creek Grove, a swingers resort.
Fun fact: I spent a weekend at Serendipity Park to report a story — I promise! — when I was studying journalism at UGA.
- The resort (regulars politely corrected me when I referred to it as a "colony") was basically a summer camp without clothes.
- I met everyone from families who lived there full-time to retirees from Atlanta who consider it their second home.
Yes, but: I arrived with a minor cold, not wanting to miss the nudists' last party before the winter doldrums.
- My minor cold quickly turned south, and the nudists suggested I find some peace and quiet in the hot tub.
- Like everything else there, the rules prohibited bathing suits. But I was alone and could open my sinuses, so whatever.
Yes, then: About 5 minutes after jumping in the tub, an army of naked bodies burst through the door and joined me.
- For about 30 minutes I watched them crack up and drink Michelob. I realized then that journalism was the career for me.
