Michelin-star restaurant Omakase Table will relocate to Buckhead next month.
The latest: The very upscale sushi restaurant aims to open Wednesday, March 12 in the Buckhead Landing shopping center at 3300 Piedmont Road, according to a press release.
- The original space at 788 West Marietta Street will be converted into a more "entry-level omakase dining experience" and fewer dishes, the restaurant said.
- That restaurant will hold its final service on March 2 and will transition to the new eatery called "Neko" that will open in April.
How it works: The Japanese term 'omakase' translates to 'I'll leave it up to you.' It refers to a style of dining where the chef decides each dish served in a multi-course meal.
What they're saying: Chef and owner Leonard Yu said in a statement that Omakase started as a pop-up in Buckhead, "so this neighborhood is where it all started and is very special to me."
- "The new space represents how far we've come."
Zoom in: The 2,000-square-foot new space will have two rooms, one of which will have 10 seats and another decked out with eight, so customers can enjoy a more intimate experience.
- Omakase will keep its 20-course menu, and the new space will be outfitted with a 10-seat bar where patrons can enjoy cocktails before dinner.
- "We're very excited about the opportunity to serve more guests in our new location and offer a bar area where we will soon introduce our omakase cocktail experience," general manager Jypzi Suepongsa said in a statement.
Flashback: Omakase was one of four restaurants awarded a Michelin star at a ceremony held in October.
What's next: The Buckhead space will be open Wednesday through Sunday, with seatings at 5pm, 5:30pm, 8pm and 8:30pm. Walk-in customers will not be accepted. Reservations can be made online.
