Day on, not a day off. Here are several of the many Martin Luther King, Jr. Day events planned in metro Atlanta to pay homage to the civil rights legend.

Honor: The King Center pays tribute with the Beloved Community Commemoration at Ebenezer Baptist Church and a community service project.

The Interfaith Children's Movement's MLK Day March to the King Center begins at noon from Peachtree Street and John Portman Boulevard.
King's alma mater Morehouse College hosts two weeks of events that include a day of service, forum on collective trauma and a presentation of King's documents.

Volunteer: Hands On ATL's database highlights hundreds of opportunities to serve the unsheltered, help refugees settle into apartments and more during the holiday.

Get moving: The MLKDay5K in Doraville features a drumline along the entire 3.1-mile route.

Proceeds from the "flat and fast" race go to metro Atlanta running organizations and parent-teacher associations.
The MLK Freedom Run in Mableton offers 5K, 10K and half-marathon races, plus a virtual run.
