The number of same-sex married couples in Georgia has increased significantly since the Supreme Court's 2015 decision legalizing them nationwide.

By the numbers: Georgia was home to more than 38,600 same-sex couple households in 2022, according to the latest American Community Survey (ACS) data, compared to over 18,100 in 2008.
There were about over 22,000 married same-sex couple households in 2022, up from over 4,200 in 2008.
The big picture: The United States had more than 1.2 million same-sex couple households in 2022, up from over 564,700 in 2008.
There were over 740,700 married same-sex couple households nationwide in 2022, up from nearly 150,00 in 2014.
