André 3000 to headline free Atlanta Jazz Festival

If you missed André 3000 perform at the Variety Playhouse and Center Stage, then you'll have another chance to see him at the Atlanta Jazz Festival in May.

What's happening: The city of Atlanta announced on Monday morning that the 47th annual free festival will return to Piedmont Park during Memorial Day weekend, May 25 through May 27.  

  • The renown member of Atlanta's Outkast duo is set to perform music from his new solo album, "New Blue Sun," at 7pm on May 27.

What they're saying: Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said in a video statement on Monday that the city is hosting 31 days of jazz events throughout metro Atlanta beginning May 1 to lead up to the festival.

  • Camille Russell Love, executive director of the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs, said the festival will showcase jazz by national artists on Saturday, international artists on Sunday, and Atlanta musicians on Monday.

If you go: The mayor's office advises folks to take public transportation. You can also bike to the festival and use the free bike valet on 10th Street near Park Tavern.

  • If you drive, please note there is no parking allowed on neighborhood streets surrounding the festival. You can park only in paid parking lots.
