Truist Park, the home of the Atlanta Braves, will host the MLB All-Star Game in 2025.
Driving the news: The Braves said in a news release that events surrounding the game, which is traditionally held in July, will also be held at its stadium and The Battery Atlanta in Cobb County.
Why it matters: It's the first time Truist Park will host an All-Star Game since opening in 2017. The MLB moved the 2021 All-Star game out of Atlanta in response to the passage of S.B. 202, Georgia's controversial election law.
- Later that year, the Braves won their fourth-ever — and first since 1995 — World Series title.
- The Braves have hosted the event two previous times: in 1972 and 2000.
What they're saying: Commissioner Rob Manfred, who made the announcement Thursday, said in a statement that the Braves "deserve to host the All-Star Game."
- "We look forward to working with the Braves and local leaders to deliver a memorable All-Star Week that brings people together and benefits the community in many ways."
"Time and time again, Atlanta has proven to be a world-class destination for the most exciting entertainment and sporting events," said Braves chairperson Terry McGuirk.
- "I am excited that baseball fans will have the opportunity to experience Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta along with all this area has to offer."
Of note: The Texas Rangers will host the 2024 All-Star Game, set for July 16 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
