Scoop: Ducey group registers thousands of new voters in Arizona

• The voters registered by Ducey's group are disengaged "economic conservatives." The group expects them to vote Republican.
• Citizens for Free Enterprise, launched in June 2023, has spent some $12 million focused on voter registration in Arizona and Georgia over the last year, according to FEC reports.
• In Georgia, which Biden won by 12,000 votes, organizers claim they have registered more than 34,000 new voters.

What they are saying: "For over a year, Citizens for Free Enterprise has been building our organization, fine-tuning our electoral strategy, and executing on our mission to advance the electoral power of economic conservatives," Ducey, the chief executive officer of CFFE, said in a statement.

• "We've cultivated a strong relationship with an important piece of the electorate that is passionate about economic freedom, and our permanent operation will maintain our connection with this group beyond Election Day."
• The group receives most of its funding from Joe Ricketts, the billionaire founder of TD Ameritrade.

Zoom out: Over the last four years, both parties have put a premium on voter registration efforts. Democrats have seen a surge in new voters in North Carolina and Pennsylvania after Vice President Harris replaced President Biden on the ticket.

• Voter registration isn't always an indicator of which party has recruited new members to join their side in a given state. It mostly reflects the natural churn of migration flows.

• Still, both parties work to register their partisan supporters.
• Some states allow voter registration on Election Day.

Zoom in: In Arizona, Republicans have added to their registration advantage over Democrats, with 1,562,091 Republicans on the rolls compared to 1,266,536 Democrats, according to the Phoenix NBC affiliate.

• That adds up to a nearly six-point advantage, compared to the three-point advantage the GOP had four years ago.
• Registered Republicans have been outpacing Democrats in early voting in Arizona, Axios Phoenix has reported.
