Former President Trump is promoting a new watch collection with watches selling for as much as $100,000 each.
Why it matters: The GOP presidential nominee has promoted the sale of everything from $59.99 Bibles, $299 sneakers and $99 "Victory47" cologne in recent months.
- "FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT High-Tops" were unveiled days after the July assassination attempt and followed a line of gold sneakers that sold out in February.
The big picture: The 2024 presidential election has been a treasure trove of campaign merchandise from both sides.
- Immediately after Taylor Swift endorsed Vice President Harris, the Harris-Walz campaign quickly sold out of friendship bracelets on its campaign store website.
- The campaign site says more bracelets are available for pre-order and expected to be released Oct. 15.

Driving the news: The Trump Victory Tourbillon watch is priced at $100,000 with only 147 available, the watch website notes. It comes in three colors and includes 122 diamonds.
- There's also a silver gold tone and red silver tone Fight Fight Fight watch each selling for $499 and 1,000 Onyx Gold Tone watches for $799.
What they're saying: Trump posted on Truth Social Thursday about the collection calling the watches "truly special."
- "You're going to love them. Would make a great Christmas Gift. Don't wait, they will go fast. GET YOUR TRUMP WATCH RIGHT NOW!" Trump wrote.
GetTrumpWatches.com sales won't go to campaign
Zoom in: The money garnered from the watch sales will not go toward Trump's presidential campaign, according to the website's frequently asked questions.
- The site says it is "not political and has nothing to do with any political campaign."
- "Trump Watches are not designed, manufactured, distributed or sold by Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization or any of their respective affiliates or principals," the site says, noting the watches are "intended as collectible items for individual enjoyment only, not for investment purposes."
State of play: The Trump campaign is doing what others have done, "but at a more extreme level," Harvard Law School professor Lawrence Lessig previously told Axios' Sareen Habeshian.
- "The particular things that are being sold are new — bibles — but the idea of merch has been central to campaigns since Howard Dean," Lessig said in March.
