New Hampshire primary: Live updates
Sen. Bernie Sanders is projected to win the New Hampshire primary, followed by former Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Amy Klobuchar, according to multiple media reports.
- The returns hit particularly hard for Warren, a Massachusetts senator, who shares media districts with New Hampshire. But Sanders, hailing from Vermont, shares a similar geographical advantage.
"I’m Amy Klobuchar and I will beat Donald Trump,” Klobuchar told a boisterous conference hall with hundreds of delighted supporters, Axios' Margaret Talev reports from Concord.
- She said her performance in New Hampshire means she can go on to Nevada and South Carolina: “I came back and we delivered.”
Biden seemed to acknowledge his shortfalls in the state ahead of time. He opted instead to head to South Carolina Tuesday, where he's the longstanding frontrunner but Sanders has been eating into his lead. A Post and Courier/Change Research poll from Feb. 2 showed him still in first, but with only a five-point lead on Sanders.
- "We just heard from the first two of 50 states — two of them. Not all the nation, not half the nation, not a quarter of the nation, not 10%. Two. Two. Where I come from, that's the opening bell. Not the closing bell," Biden said Tuesday.
