In a deposition clip shown at today's Jan. 6 hearing, former Attorney General Bill Barr said he told former President Trump there was zero evidence of widespread election fraud claims — and said he came to believe Trump was "detached from reality if he really believes this stuff."

• Barr went on to call Trump's claims "bulls**t," "idiotic," "stupid," "complete nonsense" and "crazy stuff," Axios' Sophia Cai and Alayna Treene write.

BJay Pak, the former U.S. district attorney in Atlanta who abruptly resigned before the Jan. 6 riot, said he was asked by Barr to investigate Rudy Giuliani's voter fraud claims in Georgia — and was "unable to find any evidence of fraud which affected the outcome of the election."

The S&P 500 fell into official bear-market territory, Axios Markets co-author Matt Phillips reports.

• Why it matters: Bear markets aren't great predictors of economic downturns. But the plunge is yet another indicator the economy is likely to slow fast over the next year.

"Jurassic World Dominion" passed "Top Gun: Maverick" to open as this weekend's top U.S. film, AP reports.

• Why it matters: With the blockbuster successes of "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," "Top Gun: Maverick" and now "Jurassic," audiences are coming back to movies more consistently.

Critics weren't kind to the dino extravaganza. But audiences seem to be enjoying themselves.

• Moviegoers gave it an A- CinemaScore and an 81% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, suggesting word of mouth will be strong.

It's the third film in the "Jurassic World" trilogy, which began in 2015.

• IMAX's 3D showings of the film accounted for around 25% of worldwide tickets.
