Juneteenth is coming up, and Tampa Bay has several ways to celebrate.
The big picture: The annual holiday commemorates June 19, 1865, the day enslaved people in Texas learned of their emancipation.
Juneteenth 5K CommUnity Walk/Run, Tampa: Start at Lowry Park and follow the route to a scenic stretch along the Hillsborough River.
- Sunday, 9:15am, Lowry Park. Free. Register here.
Roc the Block Juneteenth, Tampa: The local nonprofit will host several events this week at Raymond James Stadium leading up to its annual Juneteenth Festival on Saturday. Register here.
- Youth Summit: Monday, 1pm.
- Health & Wellness Conference: Tuesday, 1-7pm.
- Community Symposium: Wednesday, 1-7pm.
- Cultural Couture Ball: Thursday, 7-10pm.
- Juneteenth Festival: Saturday, 2:30-9:30pm.
For the Culture Juneteenth Game Night, St. Pete: Dance battles, debates and games such as Finish the Lyrics and movie trivia round out this night of fun.

Jumpin' Juneteenth Jubilee, St. Pete: Dance to live music, shop local vendors and support Black creatives at this event organized by Queer Expression St. Pete.

Juneteenth/Graduate Celebration & Fish Fry, Ridgecrest: Celebrate this year's theme, "Honoring the Past, Serving the Present and Inspiring the Future."
- Saturday, 10am for the graduate processional and 11am-1pm for the fish fry. YMCA Greater Ridgecrest Branch.
Juneteenth Backyard Boogie, St. Pete: This cookout organized by the Saturday Shoppes will feature barbecue grills and food trucks, a market of Black-owned businesses, kids' activities, and more.

Juneteenth Turn-Up, Tampa: Catch music by DJ Quarius and Real1Krash plus a mix of Afro, house, hip-hop and more.
