St. Pete raises last Pride flag before DEI ban begins

St. Petersburg leaders on went all out for a Pride Month on Thursday with a block party and flag-raising.
Why it matters: It's the last city-organized Pride celebration before a new state law banning cities and counties from funding and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion programs goes into effect Jan. 1.
State of play: Mayor Ken Welch told reporters he didn't know yet whether the law would bar the city from raising the Pride flag, as it has since 2014.
- Regardless, he said, the city will find other ways to support LGBTQ+ residents.
