St. Pete weekend events: Pepper fest, food truck wars and more

The first weekend of May is coming up quick.

• Here are some ways to spend it on the St. Pete side of the bay:

🌮 Taco Fest, Seminole: Chow down on the namesake dish from food trucks like Rene's Mexican Kitchen and Casablanca Fusion, plus catch live music from the Trop Rock Junkies.

• Saturday, 4-9pm at Seminole City Park. Free admission.

🎨 Tampa Bay Chalk Festival, St. Pete: The sidewalk is your canvas at this event, also featuring a panel of environmental experts. Create art based on this year's theme, "Our Watery Futures."

• Saturday, 10am-4pm on The Deuces (22nd Street South between Seventh and Ninth avenues). Free.

🌶️ Pinellas Pepper Fest, Pinellas Park: This one's for the spicy food lovers, featuring eating contests and vendors serving up sauces, salsas, seasonings and more.

• Saturday and Sunday, 10am-5pm at England Brothers Park. Free admission.

🥊 727, 813 & 941 Food Truck Wars, St. Pete: Who has the best dish in Tampa Bay? Try tons of food trucks and vote for your favorite. The winning truck gets $1,000.

• Saturday and Sunday, 11am-8pm at Win! Derby. $5 admission at the door.
