Video: City of St. Petersburg
For the first time since 2024, the Rays will play at Tropicana Field on Monday night.
Why it matters: It's been a long time coming (one year and six months to be exact), but the team is finally back home in St. Petersburg.
- This may also be one of the last home openers at the Trop β as the team's lease expires in 2028 and its owners hope to have a multibillion-dollar stadium built across the bay in time for Opening Day 2029.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
βΎοΈ Schedule: The Rays are up against the Cubs in a three-game series; Monday, 4pm; Tuesday and Wednesday at 6:40pm.
- The Rays will play the Yankees on Friday at 7:10pm and Saturday at 6:10pm. You can buy tickets here.
π Parking: Expect traffic on opening week to be congested.
- On-site parking is available, but it fills quickly. Thankfully, there's a newly opened garage at 1301 Central Ave. You can find a more detailed guide from the city about other off-site options here.
π Gettin' around: Not interested in getting behind the wheel? No sweat, there are alternatives β with e-scooters littered across St. Petersburg, and not one but two public transit options.
- A baseball shuttle will operate throughout the 2026 season. It starts two hours before the home opener, and thereafter, 90 minutes before each game. Find a route map here.
- There's also the SunRunner, which travels between St. Pete Beach and Downtown St. Pete every 15 minutes.
πΊ How to watch: You can watch the games at home, with broadcasts available on cable, satellite and Major League Baseball's streaming service.
- You can plug in your ZIP code and provider at this link to see which channels are airing the games.
The bottom line: We are so back.
