Meet Tampa's lone Paralympian in Milan Cortina

State of play: Farmer, who is a bilateral amputee, was 9 years old when he played sled hockey for the first time at a clinic in Clearwater.

• He's been on the Tampa Bay Lightning Sled Hockey Team since 2007. At only 14, he made the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team and helped bring home gold from the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, per Team USA.
• Farmer led Team USA to two more golds and holds the program's all-time records in goals, assists and points.

The big picture: His sights are set on a fourth gold medal in Milan.

What he's saying: "The stakes get higher each time as the Paralympic movement grows and more people know about it," Farmer said in a recent interview with Tampa Bay 28.

• "We want to continue this streak for USA sled hockey, and for all the guys that were on the teams prior to us who started this movement," he added.

What we're watching: The 2026 Milan Cortina Paralympic Winter Games run March 6-15. The Games will be broadcast on NBC, USA Network and CNBC, and all events will stream on Peacock.
