Your guide to St. Pete's Grand Prix weekend: Schedule, parking and road closures

• Also, for the uninitiated resident, you'll likely hear what sounds like a million buzzing bees throughout the weekend if you live anywhere near downtown.

Here's what else you need to know:

First up, the race is ticketed, unless you're one of the #blessed among us who lives in a high-rise overlooking the course. Admission starts at $30.

Schedule: The race kicks off Friday and runs through Sunday. Find a schedule of events here. A few ceremonial events are happening Thursday:

• A Grand Prix flag raising at 10am at City Hall.
• A free IndyCar Party in the Park, where fans can see cars up close and get driver autographs, from 4–7pm at North Straub Park.
• A 5K race on the track at 5pm at North Straub Park. Online registration closes Wednesday night, but you can sign up on race day for $50. Participants get two tickets to Friday's races.

Road closures: The 1.8-mile racetrack is made up of the streets around Pioneer Park, the Mahaffey Theater and the Dalí Museum. Other road closures include:

• Sixth, Fifth, Fourth and Second avenues south east of Second Street.
• First Avenue South and Central Avenue east of First Street.
• Bayshore Drive south of Second Avenue Northeast, except for traffic going to Demens Landing.

Parking and transit: Your best bet is to park at Tropicana Field (lots six and seven — find a map here) and take a free shuttle or the SunRunner to and from the race.
