Downtown St. Petersburg got a big pop of color over the weekend.
Why it matters: The pink paint job on several vacant buildings at Fourth Avenue South and Fourth Street South is meant to promote a luxury condo tower planned for the block, per the Tampa Bay Times.
State of play: Local artists will spend the next few days painting murals on the properties leading up to a "mural flashmob" set for noon Saturday.
- Then, as soon as next month, demolition will begin to make way for the 29-story, 164-unit Roche Bobois St. Pete Tower.
- It's named after the French furniture designer working with Clearwater-based Valor Real Estate Development on the art-focused high-rise.
What we're watching: Groundbreaking is set for later this year, with completion expected for 2029.
