Poll: Axios readers support Hillsborough College as next Rays stadium site

Supporters praised the location and opportunity:

• One reader said it is "centrally located," with a "better flow of traffic in all directions, and hopefully a stadium that brings the team current."
• Another reader pointed to broader benefits beyond baseball, writing: "Location and space for all the expansion makes it more than just a stadium. So many benefits for the Rays, HCC, and the Tampa Bay region!"
• A third reader cited limited alternatives: "It seems like a good choice given the circumstances. If the goalposts are 'we need a place to build a stadium' and no one else has raised their hand, then this is the best place."

Others want the team to stay in St. Petersburg:

• "They are a St. Pete team regardless of the 'Tampa Bay' name," said one reader. "The businesses in downtown St. Pete struggled this year while they awaited Tropicana Field to be repaired. How do you think they will do when there's no stadium at all?"

Some aren't thrilled with Hillsborough College:

• "You can't tear down a college," one reader said.
• "It's still a terrible location," another said. "The best plan would've been to migrate the state fair operations to the Strawberry Festival location and use the state fairgrounds for the stadium."
• "I think Ybor would have been a better choice," said a third.

A few are concerned about the cost:
