Florida boy sought for role in "A Land Remembered" TV series

Zoom in: No acting experience is required, per a news release from the production team. Neither is horse-riding experience, although it's preferred. The production team is looking for a boy from Florida or the Southeast.

• "We're inviting new talent — kids who love adventure, the outdoors, and the history of our state — to be part of something truly special," co-creator and producer Christa Boarini said in the release.
• "This is Florida's story told by Floridians."

State of play: The series is in development and will be filmed in Florida. Production will start in March, co-creator Todd Wiseman Jr., who grew up in Tampa, told Axios.

• The project has secured about $500,000 in state funding with a matching grant from Visit Tampa Bay, Wiseman said. The budget for the first season is estimated at about $25 million, per WUSF.

Zoom out: "A Land Remembered" follows several generations of the fictional MacIvey family and their life in Florida over 100 years.

• The family worked in the cattle and citrus industries and, later, in land development and real estate.
• The story captures Florida's shift from wild, untamed land to urban sprawl and the family's own role in that change.
