Black History Month began Saturday, and there are tons of ways to celebrate in Tampa Bay.
💥 Black History Trivia Night: Play as an individual or with a team at this free event testing your Black history knowledge. Prizes are available for winning teams. Feb. 5, The Woodson African American Museum of Florida, St. Petersburg.

👟 Black History Month Walk for Education and Community Festival: This 5K run/walk and festival is hosted by and helps raise money for the United Negro College Fund, which funds college scholarships for Black students. Feb. 8 at Perry Harvey Sr. Park, Tampa.
- Register for the 5K here ($35 or $20 for students 18 and under). The community festival to follow is free.
🎭 Black History They Don't Want You to Know: This theatrical production rooted in spoken word and hip-hop seeks to reveal lesser-known moments and figures in Black history. Feb. 12 and 13 at Stageworks Theatre, Tampa.

🥬 Tampa Bay Collard Green Festival: This free festival in partnership with The Woodson will feature a collard green giveaway and cook-off, more than 200 vendors, live music, cooking demos and more. Feb. 15 at Ninth Avenue South and 22nd Street South, St. Petersburg.

- Plus: The festival is hosting its first-annual I ❤️ Greens 5K & Fitness Extravaganza on Feb. 9 at England Brothers Park in Pinellas Park. More info here.
🍽️ Fish, Grits & Black History: A drum circle, breakfast buffet (with mimosas!) and panel discussion about local issues round out this annual celebration of Black culture. Feb. 15 at the Dr. Walter L. Smith Library & Museum, Tampa.

- Stick around afterward for the Family Freedom Festival, featuring free food and a Spades tournament. Tickets here.
🎷 Black History Month Reception: Catch live music, peruse museum galleries and listen to a keynote address from Leonard George Jr., a West Tampa native and attorney who was the first Black athlete awarded a football scholarship with the University of Florida. Feb. 28 at the Tampa Bay History Center, Tampa.
- Tickets (buy them here) are $75 and include free valet parking. A cash bar will be on site.
