New College to offer class on "woke" movement

State of play: The one-month independent study defines the "woke" movement as "a kind of cult" that's "essentially illiberal" with members who are "capable of the most dehumanizing behavior," according to a course description obtained by the Times.

• Set to teach the class is Andrew Doyle, a comedian and historian best known for creating the parody X account Titania McGrath to mock "woke culture."
• Doyle is also a former teacher with a doctorate in Early Renaissance Poetry from Oxford who was picked by New College president Richard Corcoran as a presidential scholar in residence, per the Times.
