Hundreds of thousands of households across the region are under mandatory evacuation orders. Here are the details, including where to find shelter:
Pinellas County
Mandatory evacuation orders are in effect for zones A, B and C and all mobile home residents. Find your zone here; full shelter info here.
- As of Wednesday morning, three shelters had hit capacity: Largo High, Lealman Innovation Academy and Palm Harbor University High Bldg. 19. Many more are still open.
- General shelters: Clearwater Fundamental Middle School, Melrose Elementary and Belleair Elementary.
- Pet-friendly shelters: Gibbs High School and Palm Harbor University High School, Palm Harbor Middle, New Heights Elementary and Fairmount Park Elementary.
- Special-needs shelters: Dunedin Highland Middle School, Oak Grove Middle School.
- About 8,000 people were in shelters Wednesday morning, emergency management director Cathie Perkins said. Total capacity is 20,000 people.
- If you're in an evacuation zone, "please, I implore you" to come to a shelter, Perkins said.
Hillsborough County
Residents of Zones A and B are under a mandatory evacuation order, as are mobile home residents. Find your zone here; full shelter info here.
- These shelters are pet friendly: Burnett Middle School, Durant High School, Middleton High School and Sickles High School, Steinbrenner High School.
- Shields Middle School was at capacity Tuesday afternoon.
- Pizzo Elementary School and Reddick Elementary are open but not accepting pets.
- Mulrennan Middle School, Lockhart Elementary Magnet School and Collins PK-8 School will open at 10:30am Wednesday and will also not accept pets.
- Shelters for those with special needs (all are pet-friendly): Erwin Technical College, Sumner High School, Strawberry Crest High School.
Pasco County
Residents in zones A, B and C, those in mobile homes and those in flood-prone areas are under orders to evacuate.
Sarasota County
Residents of levels A and B are asked to evacuate. The county says those in level C should also be prepared to leave if conditions worsen.
Manatee County
The county is calling for evacuations of all residents in Level A and B, as well as anyone in a mobile home or RV.
